A healthy living diet is the key to harmonious growth, which is why parents have a great responsibility in this respect. It is not always easy to give your child nutritious foods, particularly since kids tend to disagree with their parents view in almost everything, from music and hair style to diet. It takes a lot of work, patience and diplomacy to actually cover good nutrition for kids. Consider the following suggestions for your kid’s main meals:

Breakfast

Good energy levels come with a balanced nutrition. Breakfast is supposed to provide your child with enough nutrients to get him/her through the intense activities of the morning. And you can’t count on a donut for that. Instead, make some breakfast drinks with milk, vanilla and some teaspoonfuls of honey. Wheat germs, apple juice and orange juice make a great combination. Other food choices here include finger food vegetables, hard-boiled eggs and whole-grain muffins.

Lunch

This is where you have to be creative. Healthy eating for kids is problematic because they can give food away or trade it. This usually happens when the child is too bored with what you put in the lunch box. You can make the child look forward to lunch, and creativity helps a lot. Tuna fish and salmon with some vegetables are a good combination. Some children prefer peanut butter sandwiches with chopped dates, raisins, nuts or bacon; cut the sandwiches into nice shapes and you’ll see how good they taste.

Snacks

An energy boost is what children need when they return from school. And although sweets seem the closest at hand, you should avoid sugar as much as possible. Dried fruit are great for the occasion combined with sunflower seeds, dates, coconut shavings and pretzel sticks. Another nice snack suggestion is popcorn. Wheat crackers with cheese also work great.

Dinner

You can make nutrition for kids complete with a nice and rich dinner. Put different dishes on the table and let your child choose the one he/she likes. If the food looks attractive and interesting, children will eat it with pleasure.

There are many ways to manage nutrition for kids adequately. You just need to be well informed and ready to cook decent meals for the family. Home food provides most nutrients, and it stands no comparison with junk food and frozen or canned food.
