Are you familiar with apricot kernels?
To be honest, I had actually never even heard of apricot kernels until earlier this month. I had no idea what they were. In fact they are merely the stones from within an apricot.
Everyone’s had apricots, but in most cases the only time we see an apricot kernel is when we throw it out after eating the apricot!
But, apricot kernals are one of the healthiest foods for you.
The one biggest reason apricot kernels are so healthy is that they contain so much Amygdalin (B17). A lot of foods contain vit b17, but not as much in the kind of foods that are widely eaten these days in the western world. On top of this apricot kernels have higher levels of the vitamin than most of these other foods, and this is why you should include them into your diet.
Vitamin b17 is thought by many to be a natural prevention and treatment for cancer. So far, no clinical studies have been done to prove this, and there has been plenty of controvercial legal arguments about whether apricot kernels can be sold as a prevention for cancer, but despite that, there are numerous people who swear by eating apricot kernels.
As with any food, it is very important to eat a healthy balanced diet, you should not just bank on just a few foods to keep you healthy. But watching your diet is even more important with apricot kernels.
There are two types of apricot kernels you can get. With the standard ones, you can have as much as 150g each day, but there is also a bitter apricot kernel that you can get. It is only recommended to eat 2 or 3 kernels daily of the bitter ones
Why this is particularly important is because even though apricot kernels are very good for you, they also contain the poison - cyanide. As long as you keep to the recommended doses then this is not a problem, but this is the reason you have to be careful.
A totally different substance that has been linked to potentially improving cancer is goji berries. Goji berries are full of antioxidants which makes them perfect to include along with apricot kernels.
